Hokkaido. It's Japan's coldest, snowiest region, and also home to the most northern and eastern points of the country. It's also the only place where you can see the islands that Russia took from Japan after WW2, the Kurils. The Japanese still consider them to be Japanese territory.

But I was on my own personal mission in Hokkaido to finish a journey I had began 6 months earlier, all the way across Eurasia in Ireland. I had wanted to travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific, and I had passed through everywhere from France to Poland to Kazakhstan to China to get there. This was it. You can actually only see the Pacific Ocean on the far eastern tip of the island, which isn't well connected.

This is my multi-day journey across Hokkaido. Along the way, I'd also meet Japan's little know minority group, the Ainu. I'd get to try deer sashimi and discriminatory sushi. This was a hell of a trip. Let's finish it.
