Himalaya Aunty Lover Express 🇳🇵

■ MARPHA, MUSTANG: The most unique and exciting area I visited anywhere in the world last year was Mustang in Nepal. The region used to be a separate Buddhist Kingdom and have kept it's Thakali and Tibetan Buddhist architectural and cultural heritage intact to this day.

Since this is late in the year there are no flights to Jomsom, the main transportation hub for visitors to Mustang. Given it's remote location, 3000 metres up in the Himalayan mountains, and the fact that Nepal's government is actively discouraging mass tourism in the region, the only way to get up there is by local bus.

That can take anywhere from 8-10 hours I was told given the horrendous state of the road and frequent landslides. So at 6:30 in the morning I rocked up at a 'bus station' in Pokhara not really knowing what to expect.

At 7AM I boarded Nepal's greatest long distance bus: Mustang's Aunty Lovers Express 🇳🇵
