■ COLORADO, BRECKENRIDGE: After driving through Arizona and Utah where red rocks and deserts dominate the landscape, it was a most welcome development to finally drive the RV into Colorado and the Rocky Mountains where massive green pine trees and snow covered mountains litter the horizon.

I've always wanted to rent a luxury log cabin in these here parts and venture down for a morning swim in a nearby creek. This proved to be quite hard though and my search for a luxury rental cabin in the Rocky Mountains adjacent to a pond or river on Booking.com yielded zero results.

All cabins in the mountains of Colorado were occupied as more Americans than ever were apparently on the road due to travel, hotel and restaurant restrictions finally being lifted in a number of States at the same time.

After a couple of days of browsing through the available holiday listings on various short term rental websites, Louise suggested I give AirBnb a try. I generally avoid AirBnb as I dislike the company.

A quick search on AirBnb for Luxury Cabin Colorado though yielded the most amazing listing I've ever seen available as a short term rental. As if that wasn't good enough, it was also listed at a heavy discount for two days due to a last minute cancellation.

This was an opportunity I had to pounce on immediately.
